Claudia Winkler has been managing editor of The Weekly Standard since the magazine began publications in 1995. Before that, she was chief editorial writer for Scripps Howard for six years, writing on national and international subjects for the 20 Scripps Howard dailies and the 350 clients of the Scripps Howard News Service. From 1983 to 1989, she worked for The Cincinnati Post, as editorial page editor, editorial writer and columnist. Before entering journalism, Ms. Winkler was an editor at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. for seven years, editing, among other things, a 20-volume series of studies of democratic elections around the world. She has done a variety of free-lance editing, writing, and public speaking and has appeared on C-SPAN and the McNeil-Lehrer NewsHour.
