Louis R Gigante

NYC pastor and city councilman

Father Louis R. Gigante is the associate pastor at St. Athanasius Church in the South Bronx and has organized numerous mass demonstrations to protest housing, crime and sanitation services in the South Bronx. He founded the Simpson Street Development Association in 1969 and the Southeast Bronx Community Organization in 1968. In 1971 Father Gigante founded the Bruckner Democratic Club and then was elected City Councilman in the tri-borough district in 1973.
