Gary Shapiro brings more than four decades of community leadership to our Board. He is familiar with the needs of our community from a variety of perspectives including his involvement as a residential real estate broker since 1971, with Coldwell Banker. A graduate of Valley Leadership Class 5, Gary was one of the co-founders of Scottsdale Leadership nearly three decades ago. His organizational skills and experiences have been honed as the Past Chairman of the City of Scottsdale’s Bond Election Committee and the Scottsdale Unified School District’s bond and override election committees. In addition, Gary has an arts perspective as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Scottsdale Symphony. His interaction with the education community is deep as a result of serving on the Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee to the Superintendent of the Scottsdale school district, the Board of Chairs for Scottsdale Community College, as one of the founders and early presidents of the education foundation benefitting Scottsdale schools, and as Past International President of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity with over 160 chapters on universities and colleges across North America and two other continents.
