Though born in Hawaii, Nicole Kidman grew up in Australia, which is where she began her acting career until gaining Hollywood’s attention for her performance in the 1989 thriller “Dead Calm.” She was then cast opposite superstar Tom Cruise in 1990’s “Days of Thunder,” which officially launched her leading lady status and introduced her to the man who would soon become her husband until their divorce in 2001. While married, Kidman and Cruise also costarred in “Far and Away” and the controversial Stanley Kubrick psychosexual drama “Eyes Wide Shut.” Together, the starry pair adopted two children, Conor and Isabella. Kidman, a longtime Goodwill ambassador for UNICEF Australia, has amassed, among many other acting award nods, two Oscar nominations (including a lead actress win for “The Hours”) and seven Golden Globe nominations (with three wins). She married country singer Keith Urban in 2006. They have one daughter, Sunday Rose.
