Philanthropist who was the sole granddaughter of the automotive pioneer Henry Ford. Mrs. Ford, known as Dody, established a foundation with her husband that donated millions of dollars. Mrs. Ford was born in 1923, the third of Edsel and Eleanor Ford's four children. Edsel was Henry Ford's only son. Her oldest brother, Henry Ford II, was chairman and chief executive of Ford Motor from 1945 to 1979; her other brothers, Benson Ford and William Clay Ford, did not have crucial management roles. In 1943, she married a man who also was named Ford, Walter Buhl Ford II, an interior and industrial designer. He died in 1991. She is survived by her children Walter Buhl Ford III, Eleanor Sullivan, Josephine Ingle and Alfred B. Ford; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother William.
