Holly J. Mitchell has served on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors since December 2020, representing the Second District. Prior to her election, she served in the California State Legislature as both an Assemblymember and State Senator, where she authored more than 90 bills and became the first African American to chair the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee. Her public career has focused on healthcare access, criminal justice reform, economic equity, and social services. Before holding elected office, Mitchell was CEO of Crystal Stairs, a major Los Angeles–based nonprofit focused on child care and family development. As a county supervisor, she participates in governance affecting land use, transportation, health, public safety, and social services across a district that includes multiple South Bay and Southeast Los Angeles cities.
