He was previously a partner in the law firm of Hogan & Hartson LLP. Mr. Barnes was United States Representative from Maryland's 8th Congressional District from 1979 to 1987. Mr. Barnes has been a director of Washington Gas Light Company since 1991, a director of WGL Holdings since November 2000 and serves as Chairman of the Governance Committee. As Chairman of the Governance Committee, Mr. Barnes also serves as Lead Director for the Board of Directors.
