Mr. Matthew A. Gibbs is General Partner of Oxford Bioscience Partners since 2005. He joined Oxford Bioscience Partners in 1997 and leads the clean-energy initiative and bio-energy initiative. Mr. Gibbs serves as a General Partner of Oxford Energy Partners. He leads the bio-energy team at Oxford with investments in Luca Technologies, microbial generated natural gas from coal and Glori Oil, biotechnology enhanced oil recovery. He founded SymRx, Inc. and served as its Interim Chief Executive Officer. He has 19 years of experience in financing venture backed technology companies energy and healthcare companies. . His tenure spans four with funds totaling $950M under management. Prior to Oxford, Mr. Gibbs served as a Senior Associate at The Venture Fund of Washington. He also served as an Analyst at MedVest, Inc., Oak Investment Partners and Marquette Venture Partners. Mr. Gibbs worked at Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation. His Board positions include Director of 12 private companies. He has been a Director of Luca Technologies, Inc. since December 2008 and Glori Energy, Inc. since October 2009. He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at eSionic Corp. He has been a Director or Board Observer of over 15 private and public Oxford Bioscience Partners portfolio companies. He served as a Director of Medcontrax, Inc., Zone Labs, L.L.C., and ZettaCore, Inc. Mr. Gibbs holds a B.A. degree from the University of Colorado and an E.E.P. from Harvard Business School.
