Mills started his career as a vice president in the bond trading unit of Merrill Lynch Government Securities Inc., moved to Industrial Valley Bank as senior vice president and treasurer, and then became managing director at CoreStates Financial Corp. (now First Union). Mills joined PNC in 1989 as treasurer and president of the PNC Funding Corp., and later became senior vice president of Fixed-Income Investments. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1993, managing capital market activities for PNC's Eastern Region. Mills most recently was executive vice president in charge of PNC Advisors in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. A resident of Medford, New Jersey, Mills is active in both the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey communities serving on the Executive Committee of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Board, and the boards of Virtua Health System, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and the African-American Museum of Philadelphia, to name a few.
