Ginevra Ralph, a University of Oregon alum and former UO instructor, is a co-founder and director of education for Eugene's John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts – named in honor of her great-grandfather, an early 20th century Chicago businessman and philanthropist. Ralph was also a co-founder of the Eugene Opera and the Oregon Festival of American Music. Ralph received her bachelor's degree in history in 1983 and her master's degree in special education in 1985, both from the UO. She served on the UO faculty from 1992 to 2001, as an instructor/research assistant and practicum coordinator for the College of Education's Specialized Training Program. She was a trustee of the UO Foundation from 2006 until June 2013, and was a member and past board president of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. She has been a member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Design, the National Music Teachers Organization and the American Symphony League. She has also been a board member of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, a member of the Downtown Eugene Incorporated, the Eugene Redevelopment Advisory Committee and Eugene's Cultural Services Advisory Council.
