A Representative from Washington; born in Tacoma, Pierce County, Wash., September 12, 1935; attended the Pierce County public schools; graduated from Lincoln High School, Tacoma, 1953; attended Whitman College, Walla Walla, 1953-1955; B.A., Central Washington University, Ellensburg, Wash., 1957; broadcaster; public affairs director, KVOS-TV; administrative assistant to United States Representative Lloyd Meeds, 1965-1969; member, Bellingham City Charter Revision; chairman and member, Bellingham Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Schools; member, Bellingham Housing Authority; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-sixth and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1995); not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fourth Congress.
