Arthur Ravenel Jr

A Representative from South Carolina; born in Charleston, S.C., March 29, 1927; B.S., College of Charleston, 1950; served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1945-1946; realtor and general contractor; member, South Carolina State house of representatives, 1953-1958; South Carolina State senate, 1980-1986; elected as a Republican to the One Hundredth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1987-January 1995); was not a candidate for reelection in 1994, but was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination for Governor of South Carolina.
