Lawrence Lenihan is the Co-founder and Co-Chairman of Resonance. Founded on July 1, 2015, Resonance is a venture operating company that invests in early-stage fashion brands using a unique combination of capital, venture investing experience, fashion industry insight and expertise, manufacturing knowledge and capability and technology vision. Prior to Resonance, Lawrence founded FirstMark Capital, an early stage venture capital firm whose portfolio includes Pinterest, Shopify, Tommy John and other brands and technology-based solutions for retail, fashion and other industries. Prior to founding FirstMark Capital, Lawrence was the Founder of Pequot Ventures, the predecessor to FirstMark, founded in 1996. He started his career at IBM in the IBM sales organization selling to the retail industry and later founded a business within IBM providing interactive kiosks for retailers. He is the Chairman of Norisol Ferrari, an ultra high-end luxury brand for women and is also the Chairman of Crouch and Fitzgerald, one of the oldest American heritage brands founded in 1839. Other of his retail industry investments include Tommy John, Business of Fashion, Body Labs, Virgin Mega, Tucker NYC, Send-the-trend, Wander Beauty, LollyWollyDoodle, Chop’t and Mendocino Farms. Lawrence has been a Professor of Entrepreneurship and NYU’s Stern School of business and teaches a popular course called “Ready, FIRE! Aim” that has already spawned several student-founded companies. He is an active participant in the NYC entrepreneurial community, serving on the NYC Economic Development Corporation’s Fashion 2020 Advisory board and as a Chairman of the NYC Ventures Fellows Program. He also served Mayor Bloomberg as a member of the Mayor’s Council on Technology and Innovation.
