Mary M. Brabeck, PhD, has served as dean of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development since 2003. A leader in the field of applied psychology, Dr. Brabeck currently serves in significant posts in professional organizations that include the American Psychological Association's (APA) Commission for the Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Professional Psychology (CRSPPP), the Education Leadership Coalition of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), the APA Board of Directors Standing Hearing Panel of the Ethics Committee, and the Executive Committee for the Council of Academic Deans from Research Education Institutions (CADREI). She was previously a professor of counseling and developmental psychology at Boston College and served as dean of the College's Lynch School of Education from 1996–2003. Dr. Brabeck's numerous awards and recognitions include a Doctor of Humane Letters from St. Joseph's University; Outstanding Achievement Award from the University of Minnesota; Alumni Award from the University of Minnesota School of Education and Human Development; APA Presidential Citation; and the Kuhmerker Award from the Association for Moral Education; Distinguished Alumni Award from St. Cloud University. She received her PhD in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota.
