Dr. Baker is associate professor and associate chair in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University. He also cofounded Promentis Pharmaceuticals in 2007 where he currently serves as a director and chairs the Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Baker has had an active research career examining the neurobiological basis of diseases of the brain, which has been funded by grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institute of Mental Health, the State of Wisconsin, and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. In 2010, Dr. Baker was awarded the Daniel Freedman Award from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation for outstanding basic research achievement. His research career began at Montana State University where he received a BS in psychology. Subsequently, he received a PhD from Arizona State University, and completed his postdoctoral training at the Medical University of South Carolina in the laboratory of Peter Kalivas.
