William A. Slaughter is a partner in Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, a national law firm headquartered in Philadelphia. He serves as the Chairman of Ballard Spahr's litigation department and as the firm's General Counsel. He has practiced law with Ballard Spahr for nearly thirty years, concentrating on the representation of a range of corporate clients in securities class actions, bankruptcy and reorganization matters, defense of lender liability claims and general commercial litigation. Mr. Slaughter has been a member of the Kimmel Center's Board of Directors since 2003, and advised the Center with respect to the transactions that culminated in the retirement of the Center's $26 million bond debt in 2008. He also serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of the National Constitution Center, where he is Chairman of the Finance Committee; the American School of Classical Studies in Athens; and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Mr. Slaughter has also served as a managing director of the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation since 1985. He was formerly a director of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia and Chestnut Hill Hospital. Mr. Slaughter is a graduate of Yale University, where he received a B.A. cum laude in Art History in 1975. He received his J.D. degree from the Yale Law School in 1979.
