Mr. McFetridge is a Managing Director for Mercury. Mr. McFetridge has significant congressional and state legislative experience, as well as a proven track record of successfully developing and executing strategic objectives. His experience includes state and federal legislative affairs, state legislative and executive branch lobbying, and political contribution, election and campaign strategy. He has also worked on stakeholder and coalition building, political strategy, and communications and messaging. Mr. McFetridge provides a range of legislative, regulatory and legal services for clients in California and across the country including representing clients’ interests before the Legislature and other state agencies; testifying at legislative hearings; performing legislative, policy and political analysis; drafting bills; monitoring bills and legislative updates; and developing messages for political strategy and coalition building. He has also been responsible for reaching out and building relationships with legislators and key policymakers both in California and Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Mercury, Mr. McFetridge managed Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Sacramento office where he led its growth and expansion. In addition, Mr. McFetridge served as a legislative and policy director for the California State Treasurer, Philip Angelides from 2000-2004 and prior to that he was a committee consultant for Assemblyman Jack Scott and the Assembly Insurance Committee. He has also previously served as a legislative assistant former State Senator and now Congressman Mike Thompson. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. McFetridge worked for Congressman Vic Fazio as a Senior Legislative Assistant, staffing the Congressman on the House Appropriations Committee in the areas of defense and transportation. Mr. McFetridge has a degree in political science from California State University, San Francisco and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law and is a licensed member of the California State Bar. Duncan is married and has two young sons.
