Timothy M. Burke, of Cincinnati, was appointed to the Ohio Board of Regents in October 2008. Regent Burke is the president of Manley Burke LPA in Cincinnati, where his law practice is concentrated in local government law, land use, zoning and eminent domain. Regent Burke has served as special counsel to both the University of Cincinnati on land use and zoning matters and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on labor relations issues. He also has a unique practice representing fraternities and sororities on a national basis. Manley Burke has published Fraternal Law, a quarterly newsletter dealing with fraternal legal issues for 27 years and Regent Burke frequently writes and speaks on those topics. Regent Burke has formerly served as the president of the Xavier University Alumni Board of Governors, trustee of the Cincinnati Zoo, and a commissioner of the Cincinnati Park Board. He has been an adjunct faculty member at both Xavier, from which he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, and the University of Cincinnati, from which he received his Juris Doctor degree. He has been the chair of the Hamilton County Democratic Party and a member of the County Board of Elections for 15 years (14 years as chair). Regent Burke currently serves as Board Secretary, chairs the Enterprise University Task Force and serves on the Centers of Excellence and Central State Task Forces.
