As the Founding Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs and Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences, Dr. Linda Gillum has been instrumental in the establishment of the new Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. This is the first new medical school launched in Michigan in more than a generation. Under Dr. Gillum’s leadership, the school of medicine is developing new models for medical education that promote excellence through innovation, research and scholarship. Dr. Gillum was a recipient of the prestigious American Council on Education (ACE) Fellowship to Princeton University. She is a member of the distinguished Oxford International Roundtable, St. Anthony’s College at Oxford University in England. She has served on a number of boards throughout her career and as a member of the Cranbrook Board of Trustees, Dr. Gillum’s philanthropic priorities include her long-term commitment to its Horizons – Upward Bound Program. The OUWB School of Medicine collaborates with Upward Bound to provide physician mentors and pre-medical research opportunities to students from Pontiac and Detroit. Dr. Gillum also serves on the boards of the Detroit Zoological Society, the Sphinx Organization, and the Michigan Women’s Foundation. Dr. Gillum is a resident of Bloomfield Hills. She is a graduate of Detroit Public Schools, Michigan State University, and completed her doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
