Spaulding is in the private practice of psychiatry for children, adolescents and young adults. She has served as a Director of Cardinal health Corporation and as the Vice-Chairperson of the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation. She currently serves on the Durham board of Wells Fargo Bank and on the Board of Copernicus IRB. She is an independent director of Merryck Americas. Spaulding was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission at the request of then Gov. Beverly Perdue. Previously, she served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.
