H P Goldfield

H.P. Goldfield is Vice Chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, which is affiliated with Albright Capital Management, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets. Mr. Goldfield provides strategic advice to clients regarding international affairs, international trade matters, and general public policy issues and strategies. Mr. Goldfield also serves as a Senior International Advisor to Hogan Lovells U.S. LLP, a global law firm based in Washington, DC and London. At Hogan Lovells, he is responsible for international trade and transactional problem-solving activities on behalf of major U.S. and non-U.S. clients. He is also responsible for developing and implementing complex legislative and regulatory strategies. Mr. Goldfield formerly served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Development. In that capacity, he was responsible for supporting the competitive position of U.S. industries in the U.S. and overseas, as well as overseeing approximately 500 professional and support staff and a budget of $50 million. He was also responsible for export strategies, including export and project finance for American business. Mr. Goldfield has extensive experience testifying before U.S. Congressional Committees and representing U.S. commercial issues in the interagency process, as well as in bilateral negotiations. In his capacity as Assistant Secretary, Mr. Goldfield was also appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the Export-Import Bank of the United States (ex officio). Prior to his appointment at the U.S. Commerce Department, Mr. Goldfield was a member of the White House staff serving as Assistant Counsel (1981-82) and subsequently as Associate Counsel to the President of the United States (1982-83). From 1975 to 1977, he served as assistant and law clerk to Philip W. Buchen, Counsel to President Ford. In 1976, President Gerald R. Ford appointed Mr. Goldfield to a four-year term as a member of the National Advisory Committee for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Mr. Goldfield served as a member of the National Finance Committee for the Bush-Quayle ’88 and ’92 Presidential campaigns, and as senior advisor on international trade issues to the campaigns and to the 1992 Republican National Convention. He served as Director of Congressional Liaison for Dole/Kemp ’96 and as a member of President George W. Bush’s National Finance Committees. He was also a delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention. In 1997, Mr. Goldfield was appointed by Tom Donohue to the National Chamber Foundation Board of Directors at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Goldfield serves on the board of directors of Black & Veatch, NetWitness Corporation, Middle East Institute, the Israel Policy Forum, and the Ethics Resources Center. Mr. Goldfield graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1977 and holds a Master’s degree in Urban Studies from Occidental College. He was one of 36 individuals nationally awarded a CORO Foundation Fellowship in Public Affairs during 1973-1974. Mr. Goldfield graduated cum laude from Connecticut College in 1973 with a B.A. in Asian Studies.
