Minoru Makihara

Ben Makihara is a Japanese businessman who is chairman of the Oriental Library of Toyo Bunko, and serves on the boards of Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co Ltd, Mitsubishi Logistics Corporation and the Japan Center for International Exchange. He is a member of Temasek Holdings' International Panel and a member of the Executive Committee of the Trilateral Commission and the International Advisory Council of Allianz SE. Mr Makihara joined Mitsubishi in 1956. He was elected president of Mitsubishi International Corporation in 1987 and as its chairman in 1990. He served as president of Mitsubishi Corporation from 1992, and as chairman from 1998 until 2004. His other directorships have included Shinsei Bank, Millea Holdings and IBM. He has also served as a member of the International Advisory Board of The Coca-Cola Company and the International Council of JP Morgan Chase.
