Sandra J. Horbach is a Managing Director with U.S. Buyout, focusing on buyouts, privatizations and strategic minority investments opportunities in the consumer and retail sector. She serves as head of the Global Consumer and Retail team. Ms. Horbach is based in New York. Since joining Carlyle in 2005, Ms. Horbach has been actively involved with Carlyle’s investments in current portfolio companies NBTY, Beats Electronics and, in partnership with Carlyle South America Buyout Fund, CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. Ms. Horbach also led the transaction teams that executed Carlyle’s investments in Dunkin' Brands, Inc. and philosophy, Inc.; the investment in philosophy was exited in December 2010, when it was acquired by Coty Inc., and the investment in Dunkin' was exited in 2012 following an initial public offering. Prior to joining Carlyle, Sandra Horbach was with Forstmann Little and Morgan Stanley in New York. Ms. Horbach received an M.B.A. from Stanford University and a B.A., in Chinese, from Wellesley College. Ms. Horbach currently serves as a director on the Board of Directors of Dunkin’ Brands Inc., NBTY, CVC and Beats.
