Dr. Vaught has led Cephalon research and development operations since his hiring in 1991, helping to oversee the company’s growth from a tiny startup to the eighth largest biotech company in the world. Prior to joining Cephalon, Dr. Vaught was Assistant Director, CNS Research, for the R.W.J. Pharmaceutical Research Institute (a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary), and served as central nervous system therapeutic area team leader for Johnson & Johnson from 1989 to 1991. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Vaught has published more than 120 articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals in the field of neurobiology. He received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Minnesota, and currently holds an adjunct academic appointment in the Department of Pharmacology at Temple University. Dr. Vaught is a recipient of the George Koelle Award in Pharmacology, serves on the Drug Discovery and Development and Awards Committees for the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and is a member of the integrated research team for Neuroprotection Advanced Technology Applications for Combat Casualty Care. A former member of the board of directors of the American Society of Experimental Neurotherapeutics, Dr. Vaught currently serves on the board of Melior, Inc.
