Josh Silverman is an entrepreneurial executive who has built and run some of the world's most loved consumer technology companies. In July 2011, he joined American Express as President, U.S. Consumer Services with responsibility for leading the U.S. Consumer Card and Global Travel businesses. His portfolio includes the company's iconic green, gold, platinum and Centurion charge cards, its credit cards, as well as loyalty programs like Membership Rewards and Fine Hotels & Resorts, which provides special amenities for consumers and increased business for merchants. Josh is also an officer of American Express Company. Most recently Josh was the CEO of Skype. During his 2.5 year tenure, Skype added more than 300 million users, became ubiquitous across mobile and consumer electronic devices, doubled revenues and tripled profits, while growing to account for 25% of the world's international calling minutes. Skype's sale to Microsoft for $8.5B was announced in May 2011. In recognition of his contributions, TechCrunch nominated Josh as first runner-up for "CEO of the Year" in 2010. Prior to that, Josh served as CEO of Shopping.com, held senior executive roles at eBay and was Co-Founder and CEO of Evite, which he led from inception through its sale to Barry Diller's IAC. Earlier in his career he served on the staff of Senator Bill Bradley, and as a management consultant with Booz-Allen & Hamilton. Josh currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Center Theater. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a B.A. and was class Co-President and an Arjay Miller Scholar at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he earned an M.B.A. Josh and his wife live in New York City with their two children. He is a member of the 2013 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
