Representative from Maine; born in Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine, November 1, 1953; graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, 1972; A.B., Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., 1976; businessman; unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Maine in 2010; state treasurer of Maine, 2010-2012; unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate in 2012; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fourteenth and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 2015-present).
