William Skinner's practice focuses on advising policyholders about insurance coverage matters and negotiating, arbitrating, and litigating complex insurance coverage disputes. He has considerable experience with many different types of insurance, including directors and officers, employment practices liability, errors and omissions, fiduciary liability, general liability, products liability, and property and business interruption policies. He has represented Fortune 100 and 500 policyholders, including bank holding companies, financial services companies, mutual funds, manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, retailers and utilities. He has also been involved in the creation and continued representation of both offshore and domestic group captive insurance companies for corporations that were unable to obtain satisfactory insurance from conventional insurers. Mr. Skinner has helped policyholders obtain more than $3.5 billion in coverage for all manner of losses, including asbestos, breast implants, business interruption, drugs, employment discrimination, environmental, ERISA, manufactured products, medical devices, property damage, and shareholder class action and derivative suits. Merck & Co., Inc. in a successful London arbitration concerning coverage for Vioxx-related claims. Norfolk Southern in London and Bermuda arbitrations for losses incurred in connection with a derailment.
