Patrick M. (Pat) Shanahan is senior vice president of Airplane Programs for The Boeing Company’s Commercial Airplanes business. A 28-year Boeing veteran, Shanahan oversees management of profit and loss for the 737, 747, 767, 777, and 787 programs and has overall responsibility for operations at Boeing’s principle manufacturing sites of Renton and Everett, Washington, and Charleston, South Carolina. This includes all aspects of engineering, delivery, and regulatory compliance. Prior to his current assignment, Shanahan served as vice president and general manager for multiple organizations within Boeing’s Commercial and Defense businesses, including the 787 Dreamliner program, Missile Defense Systems, Army Systems, and the 757 Program, respectively. Shanahan is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He also serves as President of Boeing Management Association and participates in numerous professional and charitable organizations, including the Washington Roundtable, Washington Higher Education Task Force, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. A Washington state native, Shanahan graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a dual Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
