Michael O Maffie

Retired Chief Executive Officer. Board Committees: Pension Plan Investment. Mr. Maffie joined the Company in 1978 as Treasurer after seven years with Arthur Andersen & Co. He was named Vice President/Finance and Treasurer in 1982, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1984, Executive Vice President in 1987, President and Chief Operating Officer in 1988, President and Chief Executive Officer in 1993 and Chief Executive Officer in 2003, until his retirement in 2004. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting and his MBA in finance from the University of Southern California. He serves as a director of Boyd Gaming Corporation and was a director of Del Webb Corporation and Wells Fargo Bank/Nevada Division. A member of various civic and professional organizations, he served as chairman of the board of trustees of the UNLV Foundation and is a past chairman of the board of United Way of Southern Nevada. He also is a past director of the Western Energy Institute and the American Gas Association.
