Prior to joining Promontory, Anne-Karien worked at the London-based Association for Financial Markets in Europe, member of the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA), a pan-European industry association representing all major investment banks and securities firms operating in the European Union. As Manager for Public Policy, she led the industry's advocacy strategy on a variety of regulatory reform initiatives, including Basel III, recovery and resolution, shadow banking, securitization, OTC derivatives, corporate governance, taxation, and Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs). Before that, she worked for five years in Brussels as Chief of Staff to various Member of the European Parliament. She advised primarily on various legislative initiatives in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, such as the Capital Requirements Directive, the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, the new European supervisory institutional framework and the EU directive on OTC derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories.
