Cathleen West has extensive experience counseling clients in the areas of lobbying and ethics, and issue advocacy tax-exempt organizations. She also provides counsel in the areas of campaign finance and election law. Cathleen is a principal advisor to major corporations, governmental affairs firms, trade associations, and non-profit organizations. She is also a speaker on the topics of lobbying and ethics compliance, and tax-exempt organizations, and she has devoted her time pro bono to organizations and causes. Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Cathleen served as a fellow on the U.S. Senate Finance Committee under Chairman Senator Charles Grassley, in the areas of tax and employee benefits law. Previously, she was a staff attorney for the American Bar Association in Washington, D.C., where she directed special projects for an ABA Commission, and was a contributor to an ABA publication. Cathleen received an LL. M in Tax Law from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2004. She earned a J.D. from George Washington University Law School, and a B.A. from the College of William and Mary. Cathleen is resident in the Virginia office and is a member of the Virginia Bar.
