Lisa Cooper is a nationally and internationally recognized physician and public health researcher whose scholarship on clinical communication is improving medical outcomes for minorities in the United States. A Liberian raised outside of the U.S., she brings a unique perspective to American medical care. Lisa Cooper received a B.A. (1984) from Emory University, an M.D. (1988) from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and an M.P.H. (1993) from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is currently a professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She also holds a joint appointment in the Departments of Epidemiology and Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
