William R. Burleigh, retired president and CEO of The E.W. Scripps Company, made his mark with distinguished community service throughout his 50 years with the company. In his honor, the Scripps Howard Foundation awards the William R. Burleigh Distinguished Community Service Awards to five employees each year. The Burleigh Award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional levels of community service and dedication based upon commitment, leadership, impact and innovation to any non-profit charitable, civic, health, social service, educational, cultural or community organization(s). Winners receive a distinctive trophy and the honor of awarding $5,000 to the charitable organization(s) of their choice. Winners' names will be added to the Burleigh Award plaque in the Hall of Fame Corridor at corporate office. To nominate yourself and/or a Scripps collegue who fits the model Mr. Burleigh has established, complete a nomination form.
