Nathaniel Simons

Nathaniel Simons is Chief Executive Officer of Elan Management LLC. Elan conducts due diligence and manages a portfolio of investments in clean energy, primarily early stage investments. Simons is also Chairman of MWG GP LLC, the investment manager for the Meritage Funds. Meritage is a combination of a hedge fund-of-funds and a direct investment fund. Meritage spun out of Renaissance Technologies, where Simons was a principal from 1994 to 2010. Simons remains a board member of Renaissance Technologies. Simons is a member of UC Berkeley’s Chancellor’s Executive Advisory Council and a board member of the Exploratorium. He is a Co-Director of Sea Change Foundation, a private foundation currently focused on clean energy and climate change policy. Simons holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from UC Berkeley.
