Elsie Hilliard Hillman

Ms. Hillman was known for her moderate views and support of abortion rights. In 2009, she publicly lamented Mr. Specter’s switch to the Democratic Party but said it should have come as no surprise, adding that she planned to vote for him in 2010. Ms. Hillman supported many philanthropic causes, including Pittsburgh’s public television station, its symphony orchestra and the University of Pittsburgh’s cancer institute and medical center. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Lea Simonds, Audrey Fisher, Henry Jr. and Bill; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
