Forrest Hoglund was born in Lawrence, Kansas in 1933 and graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City. After attending William Jewell College, he transferred to the University of Kansas, where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Sally Roney the following summer, and began his career in the energy industry with Humble Oil (later Exxon). He was called to active duty with the Army Corps of Engineers and later served in the U. S. Army Reserves. Forrest enjoyed a distinguished career in top management with Exxon, Texas Oil and Gas, and EOG Resources, from which he retired in 1999. He now serves as President of The Hoglund Foundation and Chairman of the Board of SeaOne Maritime Corporation. Forrest served on the Endowment Association of the University of Kansas where he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award. Along with his wife Sally, he chaired the “KU First” Capital Campaign, which raised more than $650 million for their alma mater. He is Vice Chairman of Reasoning Mind, a web-based math program for young students that is a scalable way to dramatically improve the nation’s math education. Reasoning Mind is used in more than 400 public, private, and charter schools across the country, including all Dallas ISD elementary schools. Forrest was a past Chairman of M. D. Anderson Hospital’s Board of Visitors and Chairman of the Leadership Council for Houston Museum of Natural Science. He also serves on the Advisory Boards of DFW World Affairs Council and National Center for Policy Analysis.
