GTCR formed Prestige Brands by merging three companies: Medtech Products, Inc., Prestige Brands International, and The Spic and Span Company. Medtech had been in business since 1955. The company, known then as Lambda Pharmacal Laboratories, Inc., was headquartered in New York until 1976, when the corporate offices were moved from New York to Cody, Wyoming. At this time, the New York corporation was merged into a Wyoming corporation named Lambda, Inc. In 1980, the name of the company was changed to Medtech Laboratories, Inc., and in 1988, moved its corporate offices from Cody to Jackson, Wyoming. Prestige Brands International was organized in 1999 to acquire and revitalize leading, neglected but healthy brands that are divested by major consumer products companies. This company contributed leading consumer products, including Comet® cleaning products , Chloraseptic® sore throat/oral anesthetic products, Clear eyes® eye drops, Murine® eye drops and Murine® ear care, and Prell® Shampoos to the new Prestige Brands, Inc. company. Originally headquartered in Bonita Springs, Florida, the company was integrated into the Medtech locations in Irvington, NY and Jackson, WY in 2004. For over 75 years, our products have been part of the American home. We have all grown up with Spic and Span cleaning products. The Spic And Span Company was created in 2001 to help rebuild America's most trusted household brands. It contributed the Spic and Span® cleaning product line and Cinch® Streak-Free Glass, Kitchen and Bath Cleaner to the Prestige Brands Inc portfolio.
