History of ownership of CCH, from Fulton Sun: According to information provided by the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society and previous Fulton Sun reporting, when the current facility was built in 1984, CHAMA Inc. out of Columbus, Ohio run operations. Between late 2000 and mid-2001, HealthMont purchased the hospital from CHAMA. Three years later, SunLink Health Systems bought HealthMont. SunLink maintained ownership until 2014 when University of Missouri Health Care purchased 35 percent stake in the hospital and NueHealth purchased the rest. Then, in 2017, MU Health Care sold its stake to NueHealth, which contracted with EmpowerHMS until the company became mired in a billing scandal in early 2019. NueHealth dismissed EmpowerHMS. The hospital was in danger of closing again due to debts by the end of 2019 and sold to Noble Health. About a year ago, Noble Health also purchased Audrain Community Hospital.
