Our history Since UCLPartners was formed in 2009, partnership working has been at the heart of what we do, building connections across organisational boundaries so that our partners can work together to improve patient care. More than a decade later, this ethos remains a unifying theme across our work. Over the years, we have expanded our functions through a number of national licences. 2009 – Licensed as an AHSC (Academic Health Science Centre) 2011 – 2017 – Lead education provider 2013 – Licensed as an AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) 2014 – Affiliated with NIHR CRN North Thames 2014 – Affiliated with the NIHR CLAHRC North Thames (now ARC). Throughout our life as an organisation we have played host to a range of large-scale programmes. 2012 – 2016 – Hosted London Cancer. This programme was adopted by UCLH who became its host from 2016. 2015 – Co-founded and launched the NHS Innovation Accelerator 2019 – Became host to DATA-CAN – the health data research hub for cancer When UCLPartners was established, we covered north central London and a population of 1.2 million people. Over time our geography has expanded to cover other parts of London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. We now cover a population of over 6 million people. Since inception, we have critical contributions to the health and care system and our population. Significant contributions include: 2010 – Driving the north central London service reconfiguration in stroke saving 600 lives per year 2014 – Increasing access to anticoagulation by 8% in East London 2015 – Reconfiguration to cancer/cardiac services between Barts Health NHS Trust and UCLH saving 1,000 lives per year and £45m over five years 2016 – Setting the foundations for improved service access and delivery with Essex STP 2018 – Rolling out a number of national programmes to improve the adoption and spread of innovations as one of 15 Academic Health Science Networks across England Over time we have co-founded and supported organisations and programmes that have had significant impact on the health and care system. 2014 – Co-founded MedCity in April 2015 – Co-founded DigitalHealth.London 2016 – Supported the launch of North Thames Genomic Medicine Centre 2016 – Supported the launch of Care City Explore our impact stories to find out more about our work, and our Year in Review 2018/19 for our recent achievements.
