First Solar, Inc. is an American photovoltaic manufacturer of rigid thin film modules, or solar panels, and a provider of utility-scale PV power plants and supporting services (financing, construction, maintenance and end-of-life panel recycling) First Solar was formed in 1999 and launched production of commercial products in 2002. It became a publicly traded company, on November 17, 2006; its common stock is traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market under the symbol FSLR
