HOW DOES IT WORK? START WITH DATA FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES Organizations have data. Lots of it. Structured data like log files, spreadsheets, and tables. Unstructured data like emails, documents, images, and videos. This data is typically stored in disconnected systems, where it rapidly diversifies in type, increases in volume, and becomes more difficult to use every day. The people who rely on this data don't think in terms of rows, columns, or raw text. They think in terms of their organization's mission and the challenges they face. They need a way to ask questions about their data and receive answers in a language they understand. Enter the Palantir Gotham Platform. FUSE THE DATA INTO A HUMAN-CENTRIC MODEL Palantir Gotham integrates and transforms data, regardless of type or volume, into a single, coherent data asset. As data flows into the platform, it is enriched and mapped into meaningfully defined objects — people, places, things, and events — and the relationships that connect them. TAG, SECURE, AND TRACK ALL THE DATA Once the data model has been created, source data flows into Palantir Gotham on an ongoing basis. Security rules are applied along the way, so only authorized users can access data. Data from source systems flows to the platform alongside content users add, whether by entering it manually, uploading a spreadsheet, or linking objects. As users engage with data, Gotham tracks, attributes, and logs all of their actions. BRING THE DATA TO LIFE FOR HUMAN-DRIVEN ANALYSIS Palantir Gotham brings intelligence, people, and data together to empower one another. As users collaborate and build off one another's work, they create and grow a body of shared intelligence for their organization. In Gotham's integrated Applications and Modules, users can search all data sources at once, explore divergent hypotheses, surface unknown connections and patterns, and share insights with their colleagues. This ecosystem of data, capabilities and base platforms (whether Palantir Gotham Core, Palantir Foundry, or both) augments the capability of the entire organization. GOTHAM IN ACTION POWERING RAPID RESPONSE AFTER HURRICANE FLORENCE In September 2018, Hurricane Florence devastated North and South Carolina in the United States. The storm was responsible for thousands of displacements, over a million power outages, and an estimated $17 billion in damage. To help victims remove felled trees from their properties, muck out flooded houses, and tarp damaged roofs, military veteran volunteer corps Team Rubicon deployed 1,000 volunteers—and Palantir Gotham. Team Rubicon used Palantir Gotham’s Operations Module so the National Operations Center and Field Teams could collaborate on planning and executing six consecutive operations. They combined publicly available flood data with weather information and social vulnerability census data to find the communities in greatest need. In the field, Team Rubicon Incident Command and volunteers used data to manage operations: from triaging incoming help requests, to dispatching assessment and work teams, and producing sharable daily metrics and reports. With Palantir Gotham, Team Rubicon used data to marshal resources faster, to those most in need.
