All for Good Overview All for Good is a digital hub for volunteerism and community engagement, and a service of Points of Light. Volunteer opportunities from many sites around the web are pulled into All for Good by feeds to provide the most comprehensive database of volunteer opportunities around the world. We pull in opportunities from Idealist, AARP, United Way, the Hands on Network, and more, to help connect you to the projects and organizations that inspire you to serve. The All for Good platform also helps individuals host volunteer projects, whether with an organization or on their own, find volunteers, and connect with friends through civic service. All for Good History All for Good was inspired by President Obama, who called on more Americans to serve, and Internet pioneer Craig Newmark, who saw the need for an online resource to help Americans easily find ways to serve – “a Craigslist for volunteering.” It was built as a Google “20% project” (google employees were given the time to work on passion projects for 20% of their work hours) and launched in 2009 by an all-volunteer team, including executives from Craigslist Foundation, EchoDitto, FanFeedr, UCLA and YouTube. In October 2011, All for Good was acquired by Points of Light. It is now built and designed by Points of Light’s in house digital team and volunteer development partners. If you are interested in civic tech and in helping with the development of All for Good, we’d love to hear from you about your ideas and what you might be able to contribute!
