What the firstrand foundation is the firstrand foundation is one of the largest corporate givers in south africa, and a leader in csi in the financial services sector. established in 1998 as a stand-alone legal entity, the foundation has invested more than R1 billion in corporate social investment projects, enriching and uplifting the lives of many thousands of people in need across south africa. A programmatic approach Following a strategic review of the Foundation’s giving in 2006, it was decided to streamline its focus areas. A programmatic approach was introduced, allowing programmes in specific fields of development to benefit from focused attention from the Foundation. This approach enables the Foundation to engage with programmes in a more structured and meaningful way, with the end result being one of developing high-quality partnerships and having a bigger impact on the projects it supports. This strategy has resulted in the Foundation providing substantial multi-year grants to key partner organisations. Focus areas Programmes are separately supported by each of the FirstRand Group's businesses. The programmes and focus areas are: • Education: FNB Fund Early Childhood Development, Primary Education and Tertiary Bursary programmes; RMB Maths Leadership and Development programme; FirstRand Foundation Maths Education Chairs Initiative; FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar and Momentum Dippenaar Scholarship programmes. • Health: FNB Hospice programme. • Social development: FNB Community Care programme; RMB Arts, Culture and Heritage and Environment programmes; WesBank Food Security and Agricultural Livelihoods programme. • Strategic: FirstRand Leadership and KhulaSangam programmes.
