Founded in 1936, Stater Bros Markets became a privately held company in 1987. The company operates 163 supermarkets in southern California. Jack Brown, chairman, president and chief executive officer, is the majority shareholder in La Cadena Investments, which owns 100% of the stock in the parent company.
