Genmar Holdings, based in Minneapolis, is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of leisure powerboats. Some of Genmar's divisions have been building boats since the early 1900s. The company markets 12 brands of recreational powerboats and fishing boats. Irwin Jacobs is chairman, chief executive officer and the largest (40%) shareholder of Genmar, which went private in 1988 under the name Minstar.
