Koch Materials Company

Koch Materials Company is a subsidiary of Koch Industries Inc. In 1959, Koch Fuels purchased a petroleum products terminal in Green Bay, Wisconsin as an outlet for production from Koch's Rosemount, Minnesota refinery. It began marketing cutback asphalt, and in 1961, the product line was expanded to include asphalt emulsions. In 1979, Koch Asphalt Company was officially established as a separate business unit within Koch Industries, dedicated to asphalt product marketing and manufacturing. As our asphalt business grew, terminals and plants from Maine to California and Florida to Washington were added to meet growing product demand. In 1986, Koch Asphalt established itself internationally by adding several plants in Canada. In 1987, the company changed its name to Koch Materials Company to reflect its expanding product line and buisness vision. Koch Materials Acquired Elf Asphalt in 1993, significantly increasing the company's business, service and technical capabilities. By 2005, Koch Materials has more than 100 plants throughout North America, serving customers worldwide. In 2005, Koch Materials sold its asphalt assets to SemGroup.
