Since our founding in 2014, Issue One has been creating the political climate to win game-changing reforms at the federal level. We educate the public and work to pass legislation on Capitol Hill to increase transparency, strengthen ethics and accountability, reduce the corrosive influence of big money in politics, and bolster U.S. elections. There is no silver bullet when it comes to creating an inclusive democracy that works for everyone. But there is a single path — galvanizing the public and building support in Congress around bold solutions to strengthen the security of our elections and improve their administration, end gerrymandering, reform campaign finance laws, and stop the special interests from calling the shots in Washington, D.C. Issue One’s strategy is unique among reform groups because of our crosspartisan approach. It takes more than one party to win lasting change. No major political reform has passed Congress without bipartisan support in the past 70 years. That’s why we work with Republicans, Democrats, and independents — inside and outside of Congress — on all of our legislation. Our work is grounded by our ReFormers Caucus of more than 200 former members of Congress, governors, and Cabinet officials, the largest bipartisan coalition of its kind ever assembled to advocate for solutions to fix our broken political system.
