Susan Mulvaney

Susan Mulvaney brings nearly twenty years of experience in federal and state government to The Whitman Strategy Group, having worked at the White House, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and on Capitol Hill, as well as for three Governors. From 2001 to 2004, Ms. Mulvaney served at the Environmental Protection Agency, first as Deputy Chief of Staff to both Administrators Christine Todd Whitman and Michael Leavitt, and then as Chief of Staff to Deputy Administrator Steve Johnson. At EPA, she was involved in the key policy, legislative and regulatory matters such as the clean diesel regulations and brownfields legislation. In addition, she served as the Administrator's point person for homeland security issues after 9/11. From 1998 until 2001, she directed then-Governor Whitman's Washington, D.C., office, a cabinet-level position, where she represented New Jersey's interests before Congress and the Administration. From 1995 to 1998, Mulvaney was Deputy Director of the Washington office of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, where she advised the Governor on federal environmental and natural resource issues. She worked for Pennsylvania Congressman James Greenwood on Capitol Hill, advising him on House Energy and Commerce Committee issues from 1993 until 1995. Ms. Mulvaney is a veteran of both the previous Bush Administration and the Reagan White House, having served as a political appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services from 1989 through 1993, and at the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs from 1986-1988. She also worked in the Washington office of Pennsylvania Governor Dick Thornburgh in 1986.
