Mark Ferron

Mill Valley resident Mark Ferron, a former international banker who now spends his time as a charity executive, was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday to the California Public Utilities Commission. Ferron, 52, is a senior partner at Silicon Valley Social Ventures, which according to its website "is a donor network that leverages its financial, intellectual, and human capital to make a meaningful, measurable impact in Silicon Valley and beyond." Most of Ferron's career, however, has been spent in banking. He worked as chief operating officer for the global markets division of Deutsche Bank in London from 2001 to 2009. Before joining Deutsche Bank he was a vice president at Salomon Brothers from 1994 to 1996, and was a vice president at Bank of America from 1986 to 1994. Ferron holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in economics from Stanford University.
