Sidney Lerner

Mr. Sidney Lerner, a long-standing member of the School of Public Health’s Board of Overseers, also was honored by PHANYC and received the 2011 Special Merit Award for his long-term effort to develop creative marketing strategies that promote public health. Mr. Lerner serves as chairman of Monday Campaigns, Inc., a national movement that focuses on public nutrition and disease prevention, joining together individuals and organizations to commit to healthy behaviors that help end chronic preventable diseases. Starting with Meatless Monday in 2003, Mr. Lerner has used his extensive background in advertising, promotion and marketing to create a suite of public health campaigns that set a weekly reminder to engage in healthier behaviors.
